Full description

A lovely moorland scene - with bracken, heather and a tiny windswept tree, all in miniature on a brooch.

Sky blue wool fibers have been felted to a background of kunin felt (produced from recycled plastic bottles). Fibers, in shades of heather and lime green, have been added to represent the moor. Snips of wool and 'teased out' snippets, have been felted in place to represent distant trees and new bracken fronds. Stitching in fine cotton has been added to the sky to 'stabilise' the felting. Ferns and heathers, in the foreground, have been embroidered in simple stitches using cotton threads. French knots represent distant clumps of heather.

The brooch is edged with blanket stitch using thread to match the embroidered design and is backed with a second layer of kunin felt. A brooch pin is securely stitched in place.

Height: 5.5 cm approx

Designed by Sue Bentley in North Wales
