'The Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth', written in gothic blackletter illuminated with a foliage design and points of light. This card co-ordinates with my other designs 'Angels', 'Rejoice', 'Contemporary Nativity' and 'Magnificat'.

My original ink drawing is reproduced on coloured card then gold and white gouache highlights are added by hand. I print onto a wide range of coloured cards: please specify if you have a preference and I will find one as close as I can. Cards are A6 (approximately 6x4 inches) and contains the message 'Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year'. Each card comes with an envelope and protected in a clear poly packet.

I wanted to convey the sense of looking back over centuries which I hear in these mysterious, resonant words. I sing in a church choir, for whom this passage marks the climax of the Christmas Service of Nine Lessons and Carols, a key moment in the cycle of my own year. The words are from the King James Bible, translated four centuries ago. The Mediaeval gothic blackletter style is even older, and the words, written almost 2000 years ago, speak of the beginning of time.
