Whenever I buy yarn I nearly always based on how much I love the colour or colour mix - and the yarn used to make this corsage is no exception.
I love the peacock mix of colours. I couldn’t decide whether to make corsages or a scarf.
In this case I made both - a skinny scarf and a few corsages with what was left - and then, because I loved the colour so much, I bought another skein and made even more!

Full description
This lovely brooch has been made to a pattern of my own design using Manos del Uruguay silk blend yarn - a mix of 30% silk and 70% extra fine merino wool - and Sirdar Snuggly baby bamboo yarn - a mix of 80% bamboo sourced viscose and 20% wool.
Manos del Uruguay - a non profit organisation which supports cooperatives throughout the countryside of Uruguay, the aim of which is to bring economic and social opportunities to rural women.
The yarn is hand dyed in large kettles which produces a beautiful colour dispersion.
The corsage is made as a triple layer flower - a base of Manos del Uruguay multi hued yarn and a complementary dark purple baby bamboo 3rd layer. The base layers are a wonderful mix of blues, greens, purples and golds. It is finished at the centre with a sheeny purple/blue vintage button.
It measures approximately 2.75in / 7 cm at its widest point.
It is finished on the back with a 1 and 1/4 inch silver toned safety rolling catch bar pin - please note the brooch back was electroplated with a composite nickle-silver alloy.
