On a trip to London during the 2012 Olympics I was fascinated by the volumes of foreign tourists who were having their photographs taken by our red telephone boxes. Although these boxes have diminished in numbers in recent years, they are still well recognised in British life. When I saw this fabric I knew I had to transform it into memories of that day in London.
I did toy with calling this my ‘Busby’ bag but only those of a certain age would remember the advert!

The GPO Messenger bag is quirky and fun whilst being roomy and practical for everyday use. It will certainly stand out in the crowd! There's plenty of space inside to hold magazines, files or books and it has two deep and large external pockets and one large internal pocket with a zip which provides extra security for a purse, mobile telephone or keys.
The bag measures 15 inches wide, 12 inches tall and 3 inches deep. The two external pockets are 7.5 inches wide and 8 inches tall.
The outer fabric is oilcloth and features a grey brick patterned background with lots of bright red British telephone boxes in the foreground! The bag is lined with 100% cotton in glorious red. The bag is sturdy and hard wearing. The adjustable strap is constructed from navy blue and red cotton webbing and is 2 inches wide so it is very comfortable to wear. It looks particularly good when worn across the body.
The GPO Messenger Bag can be securely fastened internally with a single magnetic clasp and externally with a double magnetic clasp on the flap. Like the clasps, the sliders and adjusters on the strap are bright and shiny in a silver colour.
As with the rest of my items this bag is one of a kind or very limited edition.
