I had made several cupcakes and the next logical step was to go large and make a birthday cake. I had some bright yellow mohair yarn which was perfect for the candle flames.

Full description
This is a PDF knitting pattern for our Birthday Cake with Lit Candles.
Complete with flaming candles ready to be blown out!
Pattern will be emailed to you. No postage will be charged.
It is worked in the round in 2 pieces, and the seam will be hidden underneath the icing. So if you are a messy seamer like me, don't worry, it won't show.
Finished cake measures 9cm high and 14cm in diameter.
Seed beads and bugle beads are used to finish. Main cake is stuffed with upholstery foam cut to size, and a little extra stuffing is place on top to give a nice curved shape. Thin wire is used to make the candles stand up.
It would make a very special gift for a special birthday, and can be personalised in many ways.
Please note this pattern is for personal use or charity knits only. Please do not reproduce, copy or distribute without my permission.
