This was the first pendant I embroidered, i had originally done a larger piece and was so pleased with the design I had the idea of making a necklace of it.
I originally decided to sew this flower after seeing it in the hedgerow whilst walking my daughter to school, I loved the way its flower could just be seen as a flash of blue in a mass of brambles and nettles.

Full description
This pendant depicts a Periwinkle flower and stem. It is an original design hand embroidered on silk, mounted in a silver plated frame measuring 24.7mm x 46.2mm. The pendant is hung on a 16" silver plated chain.
The Periwinkle (Vinca minor) is an evergreen perennial with glossy leaves and pale blue/violet flowers. It can often be found on woodland banks and shady places. It is sometimes considered a garden plant but is truly a wild plant especially in the southern English counties.
Periwinkle can be used as a gargle for sore throats, as an astringent for wounds, sores and ulcers and in a tea to reduce blood pressure. However, large amounts may be toxic.
In Magical Herbalism you are advised to hang it up on the door to protect all within the building. It is also said that gazing upon it can help in restoring lost memory.
