I've made a tote bag from this stunning vintage 1950s nautical fabric by Grafton. It's a barkcloth so it has a lovely uneven slub texture as well as its beautiful painterly fishing scenes. Fishermen hauling nets, repairing boats, lighthouses, anchors, starfish, lobster and clams - such a beautiful scenic print.
I've lined the bag with a modern heavyweight denim coloured cotton and given it shoulder straps so that it makes a really useful summer beach tote. It has a toggle button and loop to fasten. The toggle is backed with a button on the inside so that it has a neat finish and support.
I only had a small piece of this fabric - enough to make only this bag and a cushion which is on another listing. So, a truly unique piece!
