This clamp has had a hard life but possibly a very interesting one! On the clamp there is a maker’s mark – it is not very clear but you can just make it out. It has the name J.G. Wilder, London. I did a little research for this gentleman and found a John Geldert Wilder advertised as “the pioneer maker of mandolins and guitars in Great Britain”. He also made zithers and a balalaika type of machine in his factory in Kentish Town Road, London in the late 1800s. What a pity this clamp can't talk - it experienced things we cannot equal.
I have tried to show the identification mark in a photo.

Full description

A really quirky wall clock made from an old, probably Victorian, carpenter’s clamp and an off cut of wood from an old kitchen draining board, and a new quartz clock movement (battery and guarantee included).

Dimensions Length 17 ins.

Width 7.25 ins.

This is a Wall clock that can hang upright or sideways – you choose.

I have made this so that the long turned screw part comes out without everything falling apart! This makes postage easier.
