I am a firm campaigner for British, hand crafted goods, and I always try to source gifts and things for my home from fellow crafters! Quirky, handmade things all the way!!
I make my ceramics using hand building techniques, particularly ‘slabbing’ where you roll out clay (kind of like pastry) and then use it to make all sorts of things. There is almost no end to the things which you can create with clay, it is just so versatile. Glazing is always exciting, as you never know what effects will have taken place each time you open the kiln!
I try to make items to suit all budgets, and just LOVE making ceramics. I usually try to make items which are usable as well as nice to look at!

Mother’s day is on the 18th March, this soap dish could be the perfect gift!
This gorgeous soap dish would be perfect by any sink, or bath. Unlike most of my work, this dish is made from one piece of clay, with just the addition of a pair of love hearts to stop the soap getting soggy. Once the dish had dried it was fired to 980’C.
Once the kiln had been left to cool, the dish was unpacked and glazed. I hand painted the background of the dish using white gloss glaze, and highlighted the rim and hearts in red. The underside has been left unglazed.
Size, it is 15.5cm x 10cm wide, and approx 4cm tall.
I use recycled packaging where I can, and post as promptly as possible.

For instance I could personalise a soap dish, with your own choice of colours, and instead of hearts perhaps a dove or several smaller hearts, the options are endless!
