Full description
'Kiddies Tied to the Kitchen' is a fun and quirky half apron made from 9 Gent's neck ties! Totally unique and quite a talking piece and totally up-cycled, so very eco friendly too!
The Gent's neck ties have been cut and placed side by side, with the narrow ends in between, to form an elongated patchwork of coloured stripes, then hand sewn in colour matching cotton. The waist band has been made using one complete tie, simply so that your child can tie it around their waist. Approx Suitable for 8 to 14 years, although I can double knit it around my waist too.
To strengthen the waisted area, the insert material from the the tie used for the waistband, has been removed and sewn into place over the cut ends of the ties, leaving the remaining portions of the tie unpadded, ensuring that it is easier to secure into a knot.
The inside of the apron has been lined in a remnant of a pale pink tablecloth, sewn to the side edges, but left loose at the bottom. Hopefully you can make this out in the photographs.
Modelled on my 11 yr old daughter, but has been tried on myself too.
Can be machine washed at 30'C and as with ties, ironed on the reverse.
Approximate Measurements
Total Length: 19 & 3/4 inches or 50cms.
Belt is between 53 & 1/2 inches or 136cms from end to end.
There is not a large overlap of loose tie, so it will be a short knot as photographed.
The apron portion is quite wide, so will wrap well around your child, covering most available surfaces!
