I love text fabric, and I love to find new ways to use it. I also love birds used in textiles. Having used a text fabric to pick out the leaves on a cushion for my Folksy shop, I wanted to create a one-off piece that was more portable than a cushion.

Full description
A beautiful applique bag, featuring two floral birds, perfectly sized for a paperback, or to carry a current craft project such as crochet, or just to hang on a pretty peg and store a couple of special items. I've made this from a lovely linen, applique-ing with cotton fabric and wool strands. A unique, Sew Happy design.
I've put a lot of work into this, and it's a one off. I've appliqued three birds - two on the front and one on the back, and combined this with applique wool branches and twigs, as well as text fabric leaves. The text fabric for the leaves and handle was sourced by a friend in Japan from the designer Suzuko Koseki's lovely shop, and gives the bag a unique feel.
The bag is fully lined, with a pretty red gingham, and has a simple loop and button closure. The opening is approach 18 cm, while measured flat across at the base, the bag is 20cm. Height of the bag itself is 24 cm. The handle measures 35 cm from each side at the top of the bag - the handle is stitched to hang at each side, as an additional decorative feature.
The handle is stiffened, so holds its shape. It's a lovely little bag, and pretty special. I won't make another in the same design. If you have any questions, please message me.
