I have a wide collection of vintage and modern fabrics which I've chosen for their colours, patterns, textures.
When I'm creating an item I like to let the pattern of the fabric dictate what I make from it.
With this particular piece of vintage fabric, I felt that the painterly style of the images needed to have centre stage in a finished product. For this reason, I've used it in a simple but stylish drawstring bag, so that the floral design can be appreciated at it's best, up close.
On top of that, I adore Campanulas! And what better image is there, to make us think of the English countryside in mid-Spring?

A delightful little drawstring pouch bag where you can keep your small treasures and secrets.
I've used a vintage fabric which features bluebells (actually I think they're harebells!) on a cream coloured background. This looks like Sandersons, but I don't know if it is.
This fabric design has a painterly style to it - as if the flowers have been sketched in watercolours in an English meadow on a Spring day ... just lovely!
A simple blue gingham has been used on the reverse of the pouch and for the lining. The mid blue of the gingham complements the soft blue floral design beautifully.
For contrast and to add interest, I've used a length of vintage raspberry coloured cotton tape for the drawstring.
The bag measures 15cm by 16cm and is fully lined.
All fabric is 100% cotton.
