Turned wooden boxes are such fun to make. I had one as a child and always used to wonder just how it was done. Well now I know and I love to experiment with the multiple profiles, sizes in different woods; the possibilities are endless!

Full description
Made from locally grown and kiln dried Sycamore. The typically pale grain of the Sycamore wood is interrupted by a honey gold stripe of spalting in this ‘Chinese hat style’ ring box. Its side appears almost translucent as you turn it in the light. The box is ideal for holding rings and other small fine jewellery pieces but would look equally good as a display piece. I have twenty of them, all different shapes, sizes and woods lining my mantelpiece.
After turning the wood I have sanded the box perfectly smooth, sealed it and then used natural Carnauba wax inside and out before buffing the box to a beautiful high sheen.
This would be a lovely addition to any room and would make a perfect gift for someone special or a treat for yourself!
