The starting point was the little bird in the nest. I wanted to create something that said Winter, but didn't scream Christmas. I love making things on a small scale, it can be quite a challenge, but it's something I really enjoy.

Full description
This is a dimensional piece with the tree branches extending beyond the frame. The wooden frame is painted, collaged, stamped and finally finished off with a pearly paint and a matt sealer.
Inside the frame the snow on the forest floor is hand made felt. The trees are painted and embellished to give them a frosty look. The bird's nests are hand made with tiny twigs. There are even 3 tiny eggs in one of the nests!
Two tiny hand stamped fairies hide in the trees. Their house has been created from shell pieces which were painted and dusted with iridescent glitter. To finish off the piece I have hung miniature jingling bells from the branches.
The overall size of this piece is approximately 14cm square by 2.5cm deep.
