Full description
A needle-felted panel has been embroidered with a pinwheel design, featuring couching over a slubbed yarn of shades of red, cream and metallic gold, to form the focus for this barrette.
Merino, and other wools, combined with mohair and silk fibres, have been needle felted to create the background for this barrette. Several layers of differing and contrastting shades, have been built up on a base of a pure wool suiting, giving a depth of colour to the design. A diagonal division marked by couching over a hand dyed silk and wool yarn marks the boundary between an areas of gold and one dominated by reds. The pinwheel motif has been couched over a slubbed yarn.
The back of the barrette is neatened with felt and a standard hair clip is securely stitched in place.
