Full description
A super gift or way to have a go at the exciting craft of spinning yourself.
This kit contains a simple drop spindle, approx 100g of handpainted roving, illustrated instructions and a wooden peg.
Spindle details:
The spindle is made from a weight and shaft made of birch with a metal hook. After assembly the spindle is sealed with a wood sealer then finished with a beeswax balsam.
The finishing process causes the weight to become a little darker in colour than the shaft, giving a pleasing two tone finish.

Please note that the weight is not hand turned but the spindle is hand made.
Fibre details:
Approximately 100g 23mic 64s merino top hand dyed with acid dyes using vinegar as a fixing agent and oven baked to set the colour. The fibre is then rinsed and washed with a wool wash containing a little lanolin before being dried and plaited for sale.

Sherwood- Browns and greens
Jeweller's Dream- Silver grey and gold ochre
Aurora Borealis- Purples and hot pink
Nothing rhymes with purple- Purples
The hand dyed nature of this item means no two will be identical although colourways may be repeated.
This fibre has been superwash treated so is not suitable for felting, you may find handwashing will help to preserve the vibrancy of the colours.
Every attempt is made to remove any residual dye, however there is a possibility that a little may remain. It is recommended that you wash your finished object seperately and keep it away from pale fabrics until you are satisfied with the colourfastness.
