Full description
A small, needle-felted panel has been embroidered with a profusion of flowers to form the summer garden design for this brooch.
Merino, and other wools, combined with mohair and silk fibres, have been needle felted to create a miniature background with areas of vibrant colour representing different swathes of planting in the border. Bush sunflowers are featured in the foreground, with spikes of hollyhocks at the back, with a jumble of other planting in between.
The back of the brooch has been neatened with commercial felt. It has been stiffened by a layer of interfacing. A brooch pin is securely stitched in place. The first of a series, each one unique - both in background and embroidered detail.
