Welcome to my Folksy shop in which you will find a variety of hand-stitched accessories for you and your home, many of which make lovely (and easy-to-post) gifts. I stitch in a variety of styles, combining traditional embroidery with other textile techniques such as felting, weaving, hand dyeing and silk painting. Vintage linens and fabrics re-stitched into unique gifts and accessories may be found at my second Folksy shop 'LynwoodcraftsRecycled' where you will also find vintage sewing supplies including vintage lace.
Embroidered primroses form the focus of the spring scene on this brooch.
The background of the brooch has been hand appliqueed, with details added by embroidery. The primroses have been added by embroidery, those at the back of the group are worked in a fine thread, those in the centre in several strands of embroidery thread and those in the front are stitched in silk ribbon - this gives depth to the design. French knots suggest sheep on the distant hillside and the leaves are just bursting open on the trees. A row of couching over a mixed greens and golds yarn frames the design.
The brooch is stiffened by plastic cut from a recycled bottle. The back is neatened with commercial felt and a brooch pin is securely stitched in place.
Width - 7 cm approx.
