Full description
Inspired by a photograph of ice on Derwent Water.
Scraps of fabric, in muted shades of icy aqua, are appliqueed in place to form the design for this brooch.
The winter sky is stitched over a layer of pure wool fibres. The icy lake is also stitched over pure wool fibres, teased out from a hand-painted yarn. Reeds and bushes in the foreground are stitched in metallic silver. The design is framed with two rows of couching over a grey wool yarn.
The back of the brooch is neatened with commercial felt and a brooch pin is securely stitched in place.
