In these difficult times, I continue to work from home. I am only selling items which can be posted via the Post Box which is just outside my gate. I have a stock of stamps and packaging materials and, therefore, can stay open for business without imposing extra risk on other individuals. As usual, vintage linens and fabrics, re-stitched into unique gifts and accessories, may be found at my second Folksy shop 'LynwoodcraftsRecycled' where you will also find vintage sewing supplies including vintage lace.
It is almost possible to feel the sea breeze on the shoreline depicted in this brooch featuring wild bindweed at the edge of the dunes.
The more distant flowers, and the buds, are embroidered using embroidery thread. The flowers in the foreground are embroidered in silk ribbon with the detail of their 'faces' being picked out in cotton.
The background is hand felted from merino, mohair and silk fibres in shades of green, blue and gold. Small French knots suggest pebbles on the beach. The brooch is stiffened by plastic cut from recycled bottle. Couched wool, in shades of blue and grey, frames the design. The back of the brooch is neatened with felt. A brooch pin is securely stitched in place.
Diameter - 4.5 cm approx.
