Embroidered, in relief, in a mixture of ribbons and embroidery threads this choker is striking accessory.
The black background for the central panel is hand knitted in a mohair yarn and then fulled, felted to give a closer texture. It has then been machine basted to a thick woolen fabric. The oval shape has then been cut and the edge of the brooch neatened by machine stitching. Th fuscia has been stitched in organza ribbons. The 'upper petals' have been twisted to create a three dimensional effect. The leaves have also been embroidered in ribbon.
The design has been framed with two rows of couching over a chenille yarn - giving a velvet effect. The back of the panel has been neatened with black commercial felt. The panel has then been stitched to a length of velvet ribbon. Narrow satin ribbons have been stitched to the ends of the velvet and these may be used to tie the choker in place in a neat bow
