A hollowed out book handmade from a vintage copy of the classic animal story Black Beauty by Anna Sewell. This story was first published in 1877 and has become one of the best selling English language books of all time.

Use it flat as a keepsake box, or place it in your shelves along with your other books if you want to keep something private and hidden.

The whole book is solid, apart from the front cover, which can be lifted like a lid.

I created this box using a real vintage book-- this 'Jason' edition dates from around 1960 and has a handsome red, black and gold cover. I cut the hollow by hand using a lot of care and then I line the inner with fragment of text and illustrations from the book.
