Full description
A whimsical textile landscape with a moody sunset sky. The sky has been painted and then printed to fabric. I have tried to use all hand painted fabrics for the hills and landscape…. Old linen, raw silk, plus a few others that I was experimenting with. I then added details with pens and gold inks to create really unique textiles. These fabrics are then cut or torn to create layers which are carefully laid down to create hills and then free motion wobbled in place. A cute little fabric cottage is ironed in place . Some scrim and hand dyed silk has been added along the bottom of the picture and beside the cottage for texture, and the final step is to attach some text printed to hand made paper. The work is then double mounted with antique white mounts ( aperture size is 14cm) and framed in a white wooden frame measuring 28.5 cm. This picture definitely has more atmosphere than some of my other work…. I can imagine the cottage in the distant hills…. Remote location but so welcoming. The text quote suits it so perfectly….. it's a place where time moves gently. Perfect gift for a new home or for a friend who loves fabric artwork.
