Full description
Step into the presence of a gentle giant.
There is something wonderfully powerful about an elephant. Wise, ancient and quietly majestic, they have long been symbols of strength, wisdom, memory and gentle power.
The Gentle Giant is an original mixed-media painting capturing the magnificent face of an elephant as he emerges from a rich, atmospheric world of deep earthy colours, fiery reds and warm golden tones.
The elephant's expressive eyes draw you into the painting, while touches of gold leaf shimmer across his face and body, catching the light and adding a beautiful sense of warmth and luxury. Layers of colour, texture and expressive marks give the background an almost dreamlike quality, allowing the elephant to emerge from the surrounding darkness.
I wanted this painting to celebrate the quiet strength of these extraordinary creatures - powerful without being fierce, majestic without needing to demand attention.
Created on a large hand-stretched canvas, the artwork has been built up in layers using a combination of mixed-media techniques and high-quality paints, creating depth, texture and movement throughout the piece.
The canvas edges are painted for a finished contemporary look, and D-rings have been securely fitted to the back, so the painting is ready to hang and enjoy straight away.
