Full description
HM014 White Mother of Pearl Irregular is a rigid natural shell veneer made from Pinctada maxima, with a predominantly white nacre surface and subtle flashes of pink, green and blue.
Its irregular pattern gives the sheet a naturally organic appearance rather than a repeated stripe or manufactured effect. Because there is no strong directional layout, it is especially useful when cutting smaller shapes or components, while the nacre catches and reflects light differently from different angles.
Each sheet is naturally individual. Variation in colour, pattern and surface is part of genuine Mother of Pearl and should be expected.
Particularly suited to;
Reverse-glass signage and lettering
Decorative inlay
Craft and design projects
Jewellery components
Decorative detailing on flat, smooth surfaces
The shell is backed in white to enhance the natural pearl colours and add visual depth.
For straight cuts, place the sheet on a hard, flat cutting surface and score repeatedly with a sharp craft knife or scalpel against a metal ruler. Curved cutting is more difficult with rigid shell; for intricate, repetitive or precision shapes, laser cutting gives the cleanest and most consistent result.
For reverse-glass applications, we have found that a clear UV-stable varnish/adhesive system provides good adhesion while allowing the shell to remain visible through the glass.
Sheet sizes:
Full sheet: 240 x 140 mm
Half sheet: 120 x 140 mm
1 full sheet cuts to become 2 half sheets
Please refer to the Sheet Size & Ordering Information image before selecting your size.

If your project requires the material to follow a curved surface, see the HMF014 flexible version, which is made from 1 mm x 1 mm laser-cut shell pieces on an adhesive backing.
