Full description
This rectangular table lampshade with rounded corners is suitable for use with an E27 Edison Screw Lampholder. An adaptor can be fitted to reduce the aperture to fit a B22 Bayonet Cap lampholder.
The lampshade features my own textile design that was inspired by a vintage illustration of a Common Top Shell I found in an old book of British shells.
I'm a regular visitor to Folkestone on the South Coast of England. The background colour for this design was chosen from one of the artworks in the Folkestone Artworks exhibition, which is the largest urban contemporary art exhibition in the UK. All the artworks are situated outdoors in Folkestone town centre, near the town's waterfront and harbour, and alongside The Leas in the town's West End. The artwork that provided the background colour for my design was No.60 'The Colour of water' by the impressionist painter Spencer Finch. This installation takes the form of a colour wheel that can be turned by hand when you stand in front of it. Near the rim are a few small slits through which the English Channel can be seen. By turning the wheel you can match the sea colour you view through the slits with one of the many different sea colours that have been painted along the rim, which have also been labelled with their Pantone colour. The sea colour I selected was Pantone 278 C, a blueish teal colour.
After completing the design I got a limited run of 1m x 1.4m printed on a Calico Plain Cotton textile.
The white PVC lining panel used to make this lampshade has passed the glow wire test carried out by the Lighting Industry Association Laboratory. The textile laminated onto this PVC is protected by its fire resistant properties.
The use of low energy bulbs is recommend to avoid scorching the lampshade.
