Full description
This unique hand turned platter has been made from a single piece of Monterey Pine, allowing the timbers beautiful natural grain and striking growth rings to become the centerpiece of the design.
The bowl measures approx 22cm in diameter and is ideal as a fruit bowl , serving platter or simply as a decorative piece for the coffee or dining table.
One of the most remarkable features of the piece is the center growth rings, when illuminated from behind , the wood reveals a subtle natural glow. Which highlights the timbers natural rings , a beautiful reminder that every piece of timber tells a story.
All my pieces are handturned on the lathe in my small Lancashire workshop. Carefully sanded to a smooth finish and protected with a durable food safe finish that enhances the woods natural colour and character.
As with all natural wooden items small knots , grain variations and markings are part of the timbers unique character, enduring no two pieces are ever the same.
