I have always been fascinated by the hidden life within a tree especially the rare burrs that grow on wild Cherrywood Unlike straight grain a burr is a beautiful knot of chaos and history My inspiration was to carefully peel back the layers of the timber to reveal the swirling patterns and eyes that have taken decades to form I wanted to create a piece that celebrates the organic strength of the orchard while showing how wood matures and deepens in character over time just like a living thing
