This is a handmade textile pomegranate decoration with beads to represent the seeds coming out of one of the segments.
Made from layers of fabric including hand dyed Egyptian cotton and silk fabrics sewn together using the free machine embroidery style of sewing and applique
A tactile and sculptural pomegranate made from rich, textured fabrics in floral orange.
This 3D textile pomegranate has a rounded, slightly irregular form, echoing the natural asymmetry of a real fruit. The outer “skin” made from rich, textured fabric—stitched to give it volume. Subtle seams and quilting suggests the taut, slightly segmented surface of a pomegranate, while the crown (calyx) at the top shaped with curls adding recognisable botanical detail.
Where it becomes especially striking is the interior. The fruit is split or partially open, the seeds—represented by beads—create a vivid contrast. Each bead catches light differently, giving a jewel-like effect that mimics the translucency of real pomegranate arils. Clustered tightly together to convey abundance and organic density.
Overall, it reads as both a crafted object and a small sculptural study of nature, balancing realism with stylisation.
There are lead weights in the bottom of this sculpture to help it sit upright otherwise the weight of the beads tend to make it fall forward.
Size approximately 5" x 5"
