Handwoven multicoloured long 100% wool scarf. all the yarn is hand spun..
The scarf is at first glance a simple handwoven article in plain weave.
However the magic is in the yarn itself. The strong plain colours are all ready dyed Marino wool hand spun lightly and kept as single strand yarn. The beigey creamy yarn is from Norfolk Horn breed of sheep. The white fleece was hand spun and then dyed in a selection of natural dye mixes.
The natural materials used included Red onion ,tea, white onion, lichen, all with alum. Each batch of single strand spun yarn was paired with one of the Marino yarns.
I then wove the scarf.
The finished article for me has a very different look than what you would expect from the constituent parts. Two colour worlds coming together. Soft beigy shades and strong bright colours,
Measurements...57" x 9" . Fringe 4".
Wash with warm soapy water. Dry flat. Do not wring or spin. Do not iron.
