When I paint flowers in the home I bring this deep felt love of gardens into the story, but with a stillness, beautiful light and a sense of magic and happiness because of being in the present moment and painting spontaneously in response to the emotions, joy and love that flowers evoke.
Song of Summer -Cornwood Cottage Blooms is a fresh vase of colour with
beautiful scented stocks, carnations and charming pink fairy tale canterbury bells painted in a loving, homely setting of being light hearted and free. A butterfly in the corner on the cloth makes it homely and delightful. The vintage, cottagey setting is my favourite way of painting still life in my 1950s house but with a love of the 1930s and 40s too, like my Grandmothers' homes with beautiful glassware and china too.
