I really enjoy the effects of applique and reverse applique to give a piece a bit of depth. I also wanted to make some items that were a bit special for Mothers Day. And so this little piece of delight was born!

Full description
A new project for Balzoar and Bear! This is a small decorative pillow (approx 14cmx x 10xm) is made of white cotton on pink poly cotton, to give it a subtle pale pink foreground and rich raspberry pink central heart. The heart has been reverse appliquéd and secured with blanket stitch. 'Mum' has been appliquéd across the centre of the heart using beautiful floral cotton in yellows, purples, pinks and greens. Finished with lazy daisy flowers, beading and stem stitch beneath the lettering, Stuffed, machined closed for sturdiness, and sewn over at the right lower corner. Finished of course with B&bE take on the reverse! Would make a lovely Mothers Day gift with a bunch of flowers matching the colours in the fabrics- perhaps pink tulips and yellow daffodils?
