Most evenings, foxes visit my garden to snack on fallen bird food and play. They can make an unearthly noise! Living on the edge of farmland, the local foxes are healthy and so beautiful. I love to paint them in thread, particularly as the texture of thread works so well for fur.

Full description
British red fox original free motion embroidery on dark green cotton fabric shot with red in a 4 inch flexi hoop with hanger. Detailed wildlife art, built up with layers of thread on a basic sewing machine. The embroidery is stitched by eye and does not use a computerised process. The hoop is backed with 100% wool felt, embroidered with my name.
Inspired by the foxes that play in my garden and snaffle the bird food (and dig up my flower bulbs!)
Free motion embroidery is created by dropping the feed dogs (metal teeth) on my sewing machine and using a darning foot, to allow me to stitch in any direction. It is rather like oil painting; building up layers of colour, if I moved the paper instead of the brush. It is often known as thread painting.
