Blue tits have always felt like tiny sparks of happiness to me. They appear so suddenly in the garden, full of energy and curiosity, and I can never quite resist stopping to watch them. This felted painting was inspired by those small, joyful moments — a flash of blue and yellow, a pause on a branch, a quick glance in my direction.
I created this piece slowly, working the wool by hand and letting the bird’s character emerge naturally. I love how wool has a life of its own; it encourages me to work gently and intuitively, rather than aiming for perfection. Each blue tit I make ends up with its own little personality, just like the real ones.
For me, this artwork is about noticing the quiet beauty in everyday life and taking time to enjoy it. I hope this small felted visitor brings the same sense of warmth, comfort, and quiet joy into your home as it did into mine while I was making it.

Full description
This framed wool felted painting of a blue tit was made slowly and thoughtfully, inspired by the small moments of joy these little birds bring. I often find myself pausing to watch them in the garden — their quick movements, bright colours, and curious nature — and this piece grew out of those quiet observations.
I work with soft wool fibres, shaping and layering them by hand to create texture and a gentle sense of depth. Rather than aiming for perfect detail, I like to let the character of the bird emerge naturally, giving each piece its own personality. The finished artwork is framed simply, allowing the felted painting to be enjoyed as it is, ready to find a place on the wall.
This piece is intended to feel calm and comforting — a small reminder of nature brought indoors. It would suit a cosy corner, a nursery, a hallway, or anywhere you might like a touch of warmth and softness.
