Feather lore:
Folklore surrounding feathers spans many cultures. Birds are naturally associated with flight and so their feathers are often believed to symbolize the spiritual realm, with white feathers particularly thought to be a sign ancestors or angels are near. In ritual work their obvious connection to air and thus the East Cardinal means feathers are commonly used in smudging to clear away stagnant energy or altar work to promote clear communication and clarification. In Native American traditions, feathers are commonly used in dreamcatchers to offer protection and ensure only good dreams find their way to the sleeper beneath.
