I remember the studio before the music began.
The quiet, the stillness, the way my body learned balance before I understood it.
As a young girl, ballet taught me discipline and grace, strength and softness living side by side. Each movement carried effort, but also freedom — a place where I could disappear and simply move.
Years later, I no longer dance on the floor, but the feeling has never left me. I carry it in memory and express it through my art instead. With pencil and pastel, I return to those moments, capturing the calm between movements, the breath held in time.
This ballerina is not performing.
She is remembering.
And in drawing her, so am I.
