I wanted to make a dishcloth that was both kinder to our family and the planet: that didn't use plastics, shed microplastics, and didn't end up in landfill. I've been making our dishcloths for years and this one has been the most successful in terms of texture (it's long lasting and gently abrasive) and colour (it doesn't go brown as soon as you wipe up coffee grounds).

I use ours until holes start to appear, then I use it a cloth to clean the bathroom or floors with. When it is finally starting to fall apart, it goes in our hot composter.

Full description

A reusable dishcloth/facecloth made from recycled cotton. Approximately 9 inches (23 cm) square.

Be kinder to the planet and your family with this dishcloth.

Knitted from 100% recycled cotton (from repurposed clothing and other household items) this dishcloth has been knitted in honeycomb stitch to give it a thick feel and provide some gentle exfoliation for the dishes or your face.

I knit dish cloths in dark green rather than white because as soon as I wipe up coffee grinds the white turns to brown. When it does need a wash (not just because it has coffee on it) simply put it in the washing machine at 30 degrees, reshape whilst damp, and reuse.

This dishcloth will eventually start to get some holes (my current has been going for 3 months so far), you can either stitch it back up, use it as a floor cloth, or put it in a hot composter.

I hand knit all the cloths and I sometimes get distracted(!), so occasionally the odd stitch will vary from the pattern.

All dishcloths come tied-up in yarn. Postage is via Royal Mail Tracked 48 service.
