Llyn Idwal is a place that invites quiet attention. I wanted to create a piece that reflected how it feels to stand there — the stillness, the weight of the mountains, and the way the light settles rather than dazzles. Needle felting allows me to work slowly and intuitively, building landscapes fibre by fibre, much like memory itself.

Full description
This original needle-felted artwork is inspired by Llyn Idwal, one of Snowdonia’s most atmospheric mountain lakes. Worked entirely by hand using fine merino wool fibres, the piece captures the stillness of water, the weight of surrounding peaks, and the soft shifting light that makes this place so distinctive.
Rather than photographic realism, this work focuses on memory and mood — layered fibres are gently built up to suggest reflected sky, stone and water, allowing the texture of wool itself to become part of the landscape.
Each artwork is completely one-of-a-kind and cannot be replicated.
