I designed these bows as a response to fast, throwaway accessories. Velvet felt like the right material to work with — it has a richness and softness that immediately elevates something simple.
The crystal-embellished bows were inspired by vintage accessories and costume pieces that are kept and worn again, rather than bought for a single season. Making them in small numbers allows me to focus on the details and enjoy the slower pace of working by hand.
Each bow is made by The Life of O’Reilly, an independent Liverpool-based womenswear brand focused on small-batch and considered design.

This plain velvet hair bow is made by hand in my Liverpool studio using soft velvet selected for its depth of colour and gentle structure.
The bow is shaped and finished individually, with a clean, simple design that allows the texture of the velvet to stand out. It holds its shape without feeling stiff and is comfortable to wear throughout the day.
Designed as a versatile hair accessory, it can be worn casually or styled with occasionwear for a more polished look.
