This lamp was inspired by my life in Cornwall and my relationship with making. As a carpenter, I’ve always worked with my hands, shaping natural materials and letting them guide the final form. Living with ongoing health issues has changed how I work, slowing the process and encouraging a more reflective, mindful approach to craft.
Cornwall’s landscape is a constant source of inspiration—the wild coastline, the quiet strength of the countryside, and the small moments of magic found in nature. The fairy figure, flowers, and stars represent resilience, movement, and light during darker times, while the warm glow of the lamp reflects the comfort and hope that handmade objects can bring.
The solid wood base grounds the piece, echoing my background in carpentry and my connection to the land. The flowing resin and glowing metal panels mirror the meeting of sea and shore, light and shadow—elements that define life in Cornwall and continue to shape my work.

Full description
This one-of-a-kind handcrafted lamp is both a functional light and a sculptural art piece. The shade is formed from four patinated metal panels, carefully cut with an enchanting garden scene of flowers, stars, and a dancing fairy. When illuminated, the cut-out details glow warmly, casting soft, magical light and delicate shadows that bring the design to life.
The lamp is mounted on a solid natural wood base, topped with a flowing layer of hand-poured resin in deep amber and copper tones. The resin captures and reflects the light, creating a molten, jewel-like effect that enhances the warmth of the metal above. Each curve and color variation is unique, making this lamp truly one of a kind.
Finished with a warm internal light source and visible metal joinery, this piece celebrates artisan craftsmanship and organic materials. It works beautifully as an accent lamp, bedside light, or statement piece in a cozy living space. Approximate height 350mm x 200mm wide
