This chair is inspired by the ancient stories and landscapes of the Outer Hebrides — the timeless grandeur of the Callanish Stones, the enduring intrigue of the Lewis Chessmen, and the heritage woven into Harris Tweed. Harris Tweed was rooted deeply in Cathy’s childhood; she wound bobbins for her father as he wove the clò mòr in his loom shed, a cloth whose rich history is bound to the land, its people, and their resilience.
Weaving these influences together, each chair emerges as a sculptural tribute to the islands’ heritage.

Full description
Our Handcrafted Hebridean Chairs are created from reclaimed whisky barrels and inspired by the icons that define the Outer Hebrides. Each chair is a celebration of the remarkable symbols of island heritage: the Callanish Stones, the Lewis Chessmen, and the world-famous Harris Tweed. The chair backs sculpted staves echo the Neolithic Callanish Stones, an ancient Hebridean landmark. Lewis Chessmen are imprinted on the seat discovered on Uig Beach in 1831 originating from 13th century Norway. The glass rest is crafted from wood from the historic Lewis Castle grounds, a diverse woodland unique to the island. The chair is upholstered in the world renowned Harris Tweed. Slide the kilt aside to reveal a discreet hidden storage compartment.
Each chair is handcrafted to order. While Harris Tweed remains our signature cloth, your chair can be upholstered in any fabric you choose and we can also offer fabric suggestions for your chosen setting. Many clients also choose to use their family clan tartan, for a deeply personal and lasting heirloom.
This chair is available in two sizes: Small from £1500, Large from £1800. These prices represent the base cost; the final amount will depend on your chosen upholstery.
Before placing your order, please send me a message so we can discuss your preferred size and fabric, and I can adjust the listing to reflect your bespoke selection. Shipping cost varies depending on location. Please contact me for an exact delivery quote before purchasing.
