Calling all devotees of Artemis of Ephesus - and lovers of bees, symbolism and ancient magic....
This sterling silver pendant is inspired by 4th century BC coinage from Ephesus, where the honey bee was sacred to Artemis Ephesia. Bees appear throughout her iconography: carved on her statues, pressed into archaic gold appliqués and even as titles for her temple attendants.
My Ephesian Bee Pendants reimagine the ancient coin design, with wings extending beyond the border of the coin - as though ready to fly home to the Lady of Ephesus. The Greek letters around the edge spell EPESION, meaning "Of Ephesus'.
The pendant and chain are solid sterling silver, fully UK-hallmarked with my maker's mark.
The coin's diameter is 2.8cm and the chain's total length is 20 inches, including the secure lobster clasp. The necklace and pendant have an antique, oxidised finish. The back of the pendant coin is flat and polished with my hallmark at the top.
This pendant necklace comes in a black card presentation box.
This pendant was made by myself, inspired by an ancient Ephesian coin design - It is not an actual ancient coin.
I am only shipping within the UK at present.
