I have a lovely collection of vintage toy patterns and I am gradually making them up. The toys are sweet and usually evocative of their time-but the instructions are often very minimal or even confusing. I hope my revamped versions will make them more accessible for other toymakers to enjoy.
This is a custom-made item and cannot be returned unless faulty.

Full description
Baby Penguin is 4.5 inches high and rather cute and retro.
He can be sewn by hand or machine, or a mixture. I machine stitched the larger pieces together and hand stitched the beak and feet. This pattern has been made using my adapted 1940’s vintage pattern for baby penguin and also a larger daddy or "mummy" penguin. (A template for the 8.5 inch adult penguin is included as well.)
The PDF contains full size pattern templates and instructions (original vintage and my adapted ones with some photos.)
You will need: approximately an 8 inch square of black felt and small amounts of white, yellow and orange felt (or fabric can be used ) plus a little filling and thread ,scissors, needle and pins. (Optionally, for my penguin as shown; two beads for eyes and two buttons for the flippers).

Please note: with those small beads and buttons attached this is not suitable for a child to have as a toy; the embroidered eyes and fixed arms plus inset feet would be better, but check current guidelines on toys.
