Amazonite was given its name after the river in South America due to an abundance of the stone found in Brazil, although it’s been located in many other areas worldwide (the stones used here are from India). It was originally thought that its blue colour was linked to copper however research has found that it’s actually due to small traces of lead and water in its chemical composition. Amazonite is often associated with harmony and communication, making it a ‘peacemaker’ stone.
