I create my paper lampshades to bring beauty, light, and calm into everyday spaces while keeping environmental impact as low as possible. As a self-employed artist and designer, I work with materials and tools I can manage from my studio, blending creativity with practicality. I’m continually inspired by the therapeutic qualities of nature—its shapes, textures, and calming presence—and this influences every design I make. I also enjoy working with repetitive forms and geometric shapes, which appear in some of my lampshades. Each piece balances craftsmanship, sustainability, and nature-inspired aesthetics, resulting in functional lighting that nurtures a sense of calm and wellbeing at home.
Safety information
Aquilegia Shade is a paper lampshade made from paper, hemp, and a plywood base. The plywood is treated with Flametect C-WDplus clear flame retardant to reduce fire risk. The shade is compatible with both Edison Screw (E27) and Bayonet Cap (B22d) ceiling fixings. Only use LED bulbs between 6–9 W. Do not use halogen or incandescent bulbs, as these produce excess heat. There is a minimum distance of 8 cm between the bulb and the paper shade (based on a 6 cm-wide LED bulb or smaller). Contains small parts; keep out of reach of children under 3 years. Assemble only as instructed to ensure stability. Bulbs and electrical fixings are not included; follow local electrical regulations during installation. Paper and hemp parts can be recycled in household bins; the plywood base can be recycled at local centres (check local guidance outside the UK).

Bring a gentle, organic glow into your home with the Aquilegia Shade, a paper lampshade shaped by soft botanical forms and simple, sustainable materials. Four paper panels—two lightly transparent and two more opaque—are woven together with hemp paper needles, creating layered texture and subtle floral silhouettes when lit. Each panel slides onto a plywood base using a hook-and-groove connection, allowing the shade to be assembled without glue or plastic. Most of the structure arrives semi-assembled, leaving only a few calm, enjoyable steps to complete at home.
The flowing lines and natural curves echo the shapes of aquilegia petals, giving the shade a warm, sculptural presence that suits bedrooms, living rooms or quiet workspaces. The outer layer is made from 100% recycled cartridge paper, offering a soft, tactile grain that pairs beautifully with the clean geometry beneath. Hemp paper needles add a decorative detail while keeping the design lightweight and fully recyclable. Aquilegia Shade reflects my interest in creating objects inspired by nature’s calming forms—pieces that bring warmth, softness and a sense of stillness to everyday interiors.
