There's a saying that pearls should always be 'last on, first off'. This is because over time, when placed next to the skin, a pearl's surface layer (known as nacre) is susceptible to damage from chemicals found in cosmetics, skincare products, hairspray and perfumes.
So, to help protect the delicate surface of pearls, it's best to put them on last of all as the finishing touch to your outfit, after applying your make up and perfume. Then, when you're ready to take them off again, it's reverse order, remove your pearls before taking off make up or using skincare. This should help keep your pearls looking their best for years to come!

Full description
All of the pearls that I use are irregular shaped, some have rings, some have dimples and some feature a different coloured luster on either side. So, like all of us, none of them are perfect. The one I've used here has managed to combine two different shades of mocha - one side is more golden but if turned round, the other side has more of a silvery tone (more of a milky cappuccino I guess!). I've suspended the pearl on a pretty figaro style sterling silver chain and on the extender I've added a tiny freshwater pearl as a finishing touch.
