Tanzanite is of course named after Tanzania, which is to date the only place where this stone can be found. A local legend states that its blue colour is the result of a powerful lightning storm that occured around 30 years before the stone was first discovered - the lightning strikes were enough to start fires so widespread that they heated the Earth's surface enough to change the colour of the stone within it. Tanzanite is thought to encourage the connection to your higher spiritual being, helping to let go of past issues, arguments, disagreements or other old sources of negativity.

These cream nugget freshwater pearl earrings are definitely my take on timeless, classic sophistication. On these ones I've used some beautiful blue tanzanite, found only in the Merelani hills of Tanzania. If you're aware of chakras and how they're balanced within the body you might know that tanzanite is linked to the third eye and crown, and wearing it can promote a deep connection to your own spiritual being, enhancing intuition and self discovery.
