I am always endeavouring to make my art more sustainable. Learning how the paint I use is made, and how I can make it myself is really interesting to me.

Full description
Watercolour paints mulled by hand. How do I make them? I mix together gum arabic, glycerine, Maple Syrup, clove bud essential oil and distilled water to create a binder.
This binder is then mulled together with pigments. Mulling is the process of grinding together a binder and pigment between a glass slab and another handheld piece of glass called a muller. This process suspends the pigment in the binder evenly.
The paint is then dried in PLA half pans layer by layer to prevent large air pockets.
