I like to design two piece stacker salt and pepper sets and the Jack in the Box idea popped into my head one day(quite literally!) but how to go about achieving the spring idea?I’d seen an American designer friend of mine use a spring for one of her designs and I thought that was the perfect solution.The small spring is glued to a magnet on one end and a cork bung glued to the other.I glued a corresponding magnet onto the base and hey presto the two magnetise when they meet!The Clown even moves to and fro giving off that just released look!

Two piece stacker shaker which involves the actual clown as the salt with a magnetised spring bung underneath which snaps onto another corresponding magnet on the basebox which acts as the pepper.The end result gives off the impression of a Jack in the Box having just sprung out of the open lid of the box.Other details include a silver lustred wind up handle,clown faces on all four sides of the box and an open upright wooden lid to add authenticity to the piece.
