The piece is a remembrance day tribute, with the title and concept coming in part from the poem For the Fallen (Laurence Binyon, 1914), particularly the sentiment,
"At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them".

The centrepiece is the poppy, as the classic symbolic tribute to those who fought and died in the war. As I worked on this, I thought of my granddad, who fought at Dunkirk, and a D-Day veteran whom I looked after for for some years when I worked as a community carer.

Full description

This is an A4 print of my original painting Poppies in the Setting Sun, on 300 gsm matte card. The painting was created using mixed media: watercolour, soluble wax pastels, various pens and markers, and acrylic paint.

It features bright colours, an abstract style and depicts four tall poppies and one bud, in front of a background of a sunset theme. It is a tribute to those who fought and died in the world wars,
